| When I picked up the phone to call Carmen Rubin, a new up and coming urban sister on the children's book writing scene, I had no clue I would be talking to such a powerful woman of God. Carmen Rubin is the author of the book series titled, Ashti's Adventures which follows the life of "Ashti," a young woman who learns about life through service. As Carmen and I talked, she unfolded her journey to becoming a wife, mother and finally author, I found that this great woman is filled with the love and passion for education through story telling. Her loving kindness and willingness to be used by God to produce a series of books that ripped away cultural barriers and presented a story highlighting the challenges, adventures and situations little girls experience. Ashti's Adventures chronicles the life of Ashti Freeborn, a nine year old multicultural girl who experiences life opens the eyes to family issues, environmental issues and much more.
