Mean Girls Get Meaner...

Why are So Many Urban Girls
Fighting?

I'm writing this because the violence among African- American
girls MUST STOP! Jumping girls with four and five friends is
does not prove you can fight. So I have to believe it is no longer
about proving you can fight, but is really about hurting someone
else. Though in the moment it may seem fun, you can face stiff
penalties for fighting.

Besides the stupidity in which most of these fights begin, you
stand to gain absolutely NOTHING! Families are fined in
some school districts upwards of $300 if their children are in a
fight.

Why are you angry my little sister? Why are the tears flowing
down your face caused by your sister?

The fighting girls are doing now is past the level of boys
sometimes. This includes jumping, using weapons, stalking and
harassment.

These things are all a part of a deeper problem which includes
lack of parental supervision, no after school programs and lastly
the sensationalism of the internet making it seem fun to hurt
others.

If something is going on at school with you...BE SURE?

Make sure to tell if you have been threatened immediately.
Make sure to keep your cell phone child has a cell phone,
even if it is one with the airtime minutes on it.
Arrange for your child to get picked up if possible or
walked home by an older brother or sister.
Know how long it will take for your child to get home.
Make sure you have made the school aware of any
harrassment your child may be recieving.
